Statewide Campaign Launched in South Carolina to Combat FASD

“The South Carolina Dept. of Social Services (SCDSS) and the South Carolina Dept. of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS) are partnering to launch a statewide campaign to combat FASDs.  Governor Henry McMaster declared September FASDs Awareness Month so SCDSS and DAODAS have launched the “Don’t Risk It” campaign.”

Virtual Support Group for Adults with FASD Launches

 

Proof Alliance launces a new virtual group! Please join us for a support and skills group for adults with a known or suspected FASD. We are excited to create a safe virtual space for individuals to develop friendships with others with a similar lived experience. Topics include healthy relationships, staying organized, employment and more!

• Define Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
• Identify how this disorder may present beyond immediate birth outcomes.
• Recognize the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on the developing brain.
• Identify strategies for preventing alcohol exposed pregnancies.

Who Should Participate:
Certified nurse midwives, doulas, all disciplines caring for pregnant individuals, substance use treatment and prevention specialists, nurses, mental health counselors, psychologists, educators, social workers and any health care professionals working with families affected by FASD.
