Check out this Community Effort! CATCH My Breath Youth Vaping Prevention Training

CATCH My Breath is an evidence-based vaping prevention program, with curriculum for grades 5-12th grades. CATCH My Breath is used in counties across North Carolina, and NC Tobacco Free Schools lists the program as an important tool for schools. Rebecca Wheeler and Regina Isaac, from Alliance Health’s School-Based team, will facilitate a CATCH My Breath workshop for adults who wish to implement the curriculum in their schools. The curriculum is aligned with NCSCOS standards for Healthful Living and Counseling, as well as meets several literacy standards.

The workshop is July 22, 2025, 10am -12 pm at the Alliance Health Morrisville office.

NC Affiliate, Creating a Family Hosting Prenatal Substance Exposure Workshop for Parents

 

 
“This evidence-based, trauma-informed workshop from affiliate Creating a Family in July helps parents recognize the signs and symptoms of prenatal exposure and trains them on techniques that work best with kids exposed prenatally to alcohol and drugs. Parents have the option of participating in 3 to 5 90-minute sessions, held on Zoom. The training includes facilitated discussion with other caregivers, media-rich video containing expert testimony, and access to a resource library both during and after the sessions.”

 NCFASD Informed in North Carolina works closely with NCDHHS, the State’s Department of Health and Human Services, to raise awareness of FASD in North Carolina.  "Hot Topics," which serves as a newsletter for DHHS, brought attention to Brain Online to thousands of readers last week.  All articles are archived so that information is available at a later date. Texas A&M Studies Relationship of Anxiety, Alcohol in Pregnancies

 

“A new study at Texas A&M is looking into the impacts of pregnancy and alcohol on anxiety. Andres Viana, director of the CARES Lab holding the study, told KBTX that while pregnancy is generally a happy period for families, many women struggle. The study includes the relationship of anxiety and alcohol on pregnant people. Viana said a third of women will consume alcohol during pregnancy, despite recommendations.”
